Your information belongs to you. Here is what we collect, why, who sees it, and the rights the law gives you.

This policy is written under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), in plain language.

Who we are

Ohr Judaica (Pty) Ltd operates ohrjudaica.co.za and is the "responsible party" for your personal information under POPIA. Our Information Officer is the head of the business, reachable at info@ohrjudaica.co.za.

What we collect

• Order details — your name, delivery address, email, phone number, and what you bought.
• Payment confirmation — we never see or store your full card details; payment is handled by secure third-party gateways.
• Account information — if you create an account: your login email and order history.
• Marketing preferences — only if you opt in to hear from us.
• Technical data — cookies and basic analytics that keep the store working and show us, in aggregate, how it is used.

Why we collect it

We process your information to take payment, deliver your order, respond to your queries, keep the records the law requires of us, and — only with your consent — send you news and offers. We do not sell personal information to anyone, ever.

Some of these providers — notably Shopify — store data outside South Africa. POPIA permits this where the recipient is bound by comparable protections, which these providers contractually are.

How long we keep it

Order and invoice records are kept for 5 years to meet tax and consumer-law requirements. Account data is kept while your account is active. Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe — every email carries a one-click unsubscribe link.

Cookies

The store uses cookies that are necessary for the cart and checkout to work, plus analytics cookies that tell us — in aggregate, never individually — how the site is used. You can block cookies in your browser settings; the cart may not function without the necessary ones.

Your rights

Under POPIA you may, at any time:

• ask what information we hold about you, and receive a copy of it;
• have it corrected, or deleted where we no longer need it;
• object to processing, including any direct marketing;
• complain to the Information Regulator at inforegulator.org.za if you believe we have mishandled your information.

To exercise any of these, email us. We respond within a reasonable time, and never charge for a first request.

Security

The store runs entirely over encrypted connections, payment is handled by PCI-compliant gateways, and access to order information is limited to the people who need it to serve you.
